Climb to the Moon Lighthouse Tour
Ever wanted to climb to the moon? Young and old alike can give it a try this Friday night, July 15 at the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse.
Once a lunar month, the tower is opened to the public after dark for a special moonlit tour of the historic landmark. Visitors can hike more than 200 steps to the observation deck for spectacular views of the Atlantic coast and the Daytona Beach area. At the top, guests can toast the moon with a sparkling beverage.
Participation is limited to only 25 people. Tickets are $20 for Lighthouse Preservation members and $25 for non-members. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are available on a first-come first-serve basis.

Buttercup Bakery, DeLand
When you first roll up to the Buttercup Bakery in DeLand, you immediately realize this is no ordinary bake shop. Housed in a brightly painted gingerbread style building, Buttercup is all about convenience. In fact, you never have to leave your car.
On the side of the building is a covered drive-up window, a concept that’s unique for a bakery. Co-owner Audrey Slanker says the feature comes in handy for parents with a bunch of kiddos in the back seat.
“A lot of them really enjoy the drive-thru because they can keep the kids packed in the car, get what they want and keep going.”
Buttercup also has a walk-up window for customers passing by on foot. Slanker says many of their regulars purchase a cupcake or slice of homemade cake and leisurely enjoy the treats while sitting on the front patio.
Everything at Buttercup Bakery is homemade from scratch using only the finest ingredients. Muffins, scones, brownies, cookies, fruit tarts, pies and donuts are often featured menu items. Slanker and her team can also put together large platters for special orders.
Buttercup Bakery is located a block off Woodland Boulevard at 197 East Church Street in downtown DeLand. Hours vary depending on the season.
