Climb to the Moon Lighthouse Tour

Ever wanted to climb to the moon? Young and old alike can give it a try this Friday night, July 15 at the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse.
Once a lunar month, the tower is opened to the public after dark for a special moonlit tour of the historic landmark. Visitors can hike more than 200 steps to the observation deck for spectacular views of the Atlantic coast and the Daytona Beach area. At the top, guests can toast the moon with a sparkling beverage.
Participation is limited to only 25 people. Tickets are $20 for Lighthouse Preservation members and $25 for non-members. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are available on a first-come first-serve basis.

Eating At The Salt Life Food Shack
If you live in Florida, you’re very much aware of the Salt Life brand. The pirate-styled logo appears on everything from tank tops to bumper stickers. Yesterday, I indulged in the Tropical Yardbird Chicken Sandwich at their “food shack” in Jacksonville Beach. Even though it was a tad on the messy side, I loved the sandwich and fell in love with the “shack’s” decor. A great casual restaurant with a great theme. And only in Florida!
Truth In Advertising?
Daytona was dubbed “The World’s Most Famous Beach” in the 1920s. The moniker started being used after the municipalities of Daytona, Daytona Beach and Seabreeze merged to form the beach town we know today. Many people question whether it really is the world’s most famous beach. Anyone ever hear of Miami?
The Pit Surf Shop
A helpful and friendly staff make this St. Augustine surf shop one of the best on the east coast. The Pit is a mom and pop operation just a block or two from the ocean. The main building has swimsuits, wetsuits, outdoor gear, skateboards, Sanuks and a variety of flip flops and sandals. Walk out back and there’s another building full of surf boards. Very impressive for an Atlantic Coast surf shop.
